Committee Members

Meet Your Committee

The Reiki Association of Western Australia is shaped by the people who give their time, experience and passion to it.

Our committee is made up of dedicated Reiki practitioners from across WA — each with their own story, their own path to Reiki, and a shared commitment to supporting the broader Reiki community in Western Australia.

Whether you’re an established practitioner, newly trained, or simply curious about Reiki, this is the team working behind the scenes to keep RAWA a trusted, welcoming and professionally recognised space for everyone.

Amy Brandon, Chair of the Reiki Association of Western Australia and Reiki Master Teacher based in Perth WA

Chair - Amy Brandon

Amy's introduction to Reiki happened on a sunny afternoon in England in the early 1990s, lying on the grass while a friend offered a spontaneous session. She felt nothing and got a little bored. But one comment stayed with her: "Just because you can't feel it, doesn't mean it's not working." That quiet observation planted a seed that would take fifteen years to fully take root. Now a Reiki Teacher with a decade of teaching experience, Amy weaves Reiki simply into daily life, just as she was first taught: before sleep and on waking. Time spent living in the USA gave her a fresh appreciation for the RAWA community and drives her vision for the Association: a flourishing volunteering programme, a trusted online presence, and events that reach practitioners right across Western Australia. When she is not supporting RAWA or seeing clients through Share Reiki, you will find her running, swimming, or finding perspective in the Stirling Ranges. What she'd say to someone new to Reiki: "Speak with your potential Reiki teacher and make sure you find the conversation easy, with good rapport."

David Bishop, Vice Chair of the Reiki Association of Western Australia

Vice Chair - David Bishop

David's path to Reiki came with a nudge from the universe — twice. Two people from completely different parts of his life, within two months of each other, told him he needed to do Reiki and to seek out Roger Weston. He took the hint and became a practitioner in 2009. It's a story that says a lot about how Reiki tends to find the people who are ready for it. Since then, Reiki has woven itself quietly but meaningfully into David's life. His family shares in the practice, and it is the people and friendships made along the way that he values most. Volunteering has been a particular highlight, with time spent alongside those receiving Reiki leaving a lasting impression. "So uplifting," he says simply, and you believe him. David has served on the RAWA committee before, stepping back in when the time felt right. As Vice Chair he is focused on what he has always cared about: helping the association grow, supporting practitioners through training and mentoring, and being a warm and steady presence alongside the rest of the committee. When he is not involved with RAWA, David enjoys the rewards of retirement — family, golf, gardening, time with friends and holidays by the ocean. His favourite place to unwind is his home in the Perth hills, a quiet retreat that suits him perfectly. What he'd say to someone new to Reiki: "Do it. You will not regret it."

A picture Sara Monteleone, our Treasurer, sitting in a cafe with a beautiful big smile wearing a black top

Treasurer - Sara Monteleone

Sara's earliest memories of Reiki are tied to family. As a teenager, both her Parents completed their training, and her Mum's natural sensitivity to energy became something they explored together. Those early experiences stayed with her, quietly shaping the way she moved through the world. For years, Reiki remained a grounding presence, practiced in small, personal ways. It wasn't until last year that she felt a strong pull to return to it with intention. That reconnection inspired her to deepen her training and step fully into becoming a practitioner, offering calm, balance and healing to others seeking the same peace she'd found. As Treasurer, Sara is committed to building financial transparency and clear processes that safeguard RAWA's long-term sustainability. She sees her role as essential to creating space for the association to continue offering meaningful events, education and community support for practitioners across Western Australia. When she's not supporting RAWA's financial foundations or offering sessions, you'll find her at the beach, swimming in the ocean and soaking up Perth's world-class coastline, one of the best reasons she returned home after twenty years in Melbourne. What she'd say to someone new to Reiki: "If you're feeling even a little curious, follow that nudge. Find a teacher you genuinely connect with and go into training with an open mind. Choose it for you, the personal shifts and sense of calm are where the real magic begins."

Denise Turner, Membership Officer at the Reiki Association of Western Australia

Membership Officer & IT Admin - Denise Turner

Denise's connection to the energy of living things goes back to childhood. It was during Reiki treatments at Solaris Cancer Care that the pull became undeniable. She sought out a teacher, found Roger Weston, and completed her Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 in 2017. "It took a while for me to realise that Reiki actually becomes your life," she reflects. For Denise the shift has been gradual and genuine: a calmer approach to difficult situations, a deeper connection with family, and the quiet privilege of volunteering with the Cancer Council and Solaris Cancer Care. Joining the RAWA committee was a natural next step, contributing her professional skills while staying connected to a community she values. As Membership Officer she is focused on making information about Reiki and the Association clear and accessible for practitioners and health professionals across WA. What she'd say to someone new to Reiki: "Look for training through teachers listed with a recognised professional body."

Jane Hamilton

Volunteer Coordinator - Jane Hamilton

Jane’s Reiki journey began in 2003 when she trained with Roger Weston, completing her Second Degree Reiki qualification in 2004. Inspired by her mother’s positive experiences with Reiki, she embarked on a path that has since become an important part of her life, supporting her wellbeing, personal growth, and connection with others. In 2022, Jane became more actively involved with the Reiki Association of WA and began volunteering at the Solaris Centre. She currently serves as Volunteer Coordinator, helping members connect, contribute, and become involved in Association activities and events. Jane particularly enjoys coordinating volunteer activities at the Solaris Centre and supporting the Association’s annual Motor Neurone Disease (MND) events. She finds it rewarding to see volunteers come together to make a positive difference in the community. Outside of Reiki, Jane enjoys travelling, languages, scuba diving, and spending time with family and friends. She feels privileged to serve alongside the Association’s dedicated and compassionate Committee, volunteers and membership. For someone new to Reiki she would encourage you to join the Reiki Association and experience the personal and community benefits that Volunteering can bring.

Roger Weston, co-founder and Reiki Master of the Reiki Association of Western Australia

Committee Member & Co-Founder - Roger Weston

Roger came to Reiki in 1992, already an experienced holistic practitioner, and became a practitioner the day after completing his first course. More than thirty years later, Reiki remains the basis of his personal and spiritual life. One of the founders of the Reiki Association, Roger has spent decades teaching and mentoring Reiki practitioners across Western Australia. His approach is direct: find your teacher and just do it. One standout moment from his journey was teaching a Reiki 1 class on a hotel rooftop in McLeodganj, India, with the Himalayan mountains stretching out behind his students. His hope for RAWA is simple and consistent with everything he has always believed in: training, encouragement, engagement and opportunity. What he'd say to someone new to Reiki: "Find your teacher and just do it."

Carolyn Broome, Healing Line Coordinator at the Reiki Association of Western Australia

Healing Line Coordinator - Carolyn Broome

It was the simplicity of Reiki that first drew Carolyn in, and simplicity remains at the heart of how she practises and shares it today. Guided by her Reiki Master Vera Gales, whose teaching to trust, trust and trust some more she carries with her always, Carolyn has built a steady, deeply felt practice rooted in presence and care. As Healing Line Coordinator, Carolyn receives requests for distant healing and ensures those in need are held within the RAWA community. "I am humbled and grateful to be trusted with sending out requests for healing," she says. Her vision for RAWA is one of inclusion, with Reiki shares, retreats and an active online presence keeping practitioners connected and supported across Western Australia. What she'd say to someone new to Reiki: "If you love healing and supporting people, Reiki is a wonderful tool to have."
